The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is a statutory body and a national-level council for technical education
in India. It was established in 1945 with the aim of promoting quality and coordinated development of technical education in the country. AICTE approves courses and institutions under it.
AICTE sets norms and standards for technical education, ensures quality through accreditation, funds priority areas, monitors and evaluates institutions, and maintains parity in certification. It covers fields like engineering, technology, architecture, town planning, management, pharmacy, and applied arts and crafts.
