Reputed Educational Institutions of GHG Khalsa Colleges, Gurusar Sadhar (Degree College, College of Education and Pharmacy College) have successfully implemented the online Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver the study content to the students. This system will be accessible to every student enrolled in the college. The students can read, watch and listen to the content online whenever they want. The content related to the subject has been made available on this system in audio-visual and written forms by the college professors. It will also access the students' attendance, tests, assignments, etc. The College Governing Council President, S. Manjit Singh Gill and Secretary Dr. S.S. Thind congratulated the computer department and the entire staff of the college for making the educational materials available on this system in a very short span of time. He said that by developing and implementing such system, all the staff of the three colleges have shown their high level of academics. Internal Quality Assurance Cell G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized International webinar on "Mental Health and Well Being during Pandemic and Post Covid-19" on July 07-08, 2020. Dr. Shruti Shourie, Associate Prof. (Dept. of Psychology) and Ms. Chetanpreet Kaur, Asst. Prof. (Dept. of Public administration), D.A.V College, Chandigarh were the resource persons on the first day of the webinar, while Ms. Jasleen Kaur, Clinical Dietitian, South Africa and Dr. Manu Chadha, Associate Prof. G.H.G Khalsa College of Education acted as resource persons on the second day. Dr. Shruti gave an insightful presentation as the keynote speaker on the main theme of the Webinar. Ms. Chetanpreet deliberated on the theme "Well Being during Pandemic- Physical Health and Lifestyle during Pandemic". Ms. Jasleen Kaur presented her views on "Emotional Well Being and Mindful Eating". G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organised one day National level seminar cum workshop under UGC PARAMARSH Scheme on February 27, 2020. The theme for the seminar was NAAC: Revised Accreditation Framework. Prof. S.P Malhotra, Director ETMA; chief consultant at M.H.R.D and former National fellow at NIEPA was the resource person on the occasion. The event commenced with the recitation of college shabad followed by formal welcome of the resource person and the other dignitaries by Principal Dr. Sarbjit Kaur Ranu. Dr. Manu Chaddha, Associate Prof. in the college made the audience aware about the whole process of NAAC along with the various criteria of writing Self Study Report. While speaking on the occasion Prof. S.P. Malhotra highlighted the difference between the present and former process of NAAC Assessment and Accreditation. He also provided very useful tips on how to prepare and improve the Self Study Report for NAAC assessment. In the technical session queries of the participants on various criteria of Self Study Report were addressed by the resource person. Social Vision Club of G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized a function to celebrate 71st Republic Day on 26th, January 2020. The programme started with flag hoisting ceremony by Dr. Sarbjit Kaur Ranu, Principal of the college followed by a cultural programme. The cultural programme commenced with the recitation of College Shabad by the B.Ed students. Suruchi Kumari of B.ED Sem IV delivered a speech on the importance of celebrating Republic Day .A performance on group song was given collectively by B.Ed and M.Ed students. Rita Rani recited a beautiful poem on the theme "Gantantar Diwas Phir Aaya Hai". Lakhvir Singh of B.Ed class enthralled the audience with his singing performance. Girl students of the college presented a mesmerizing choreography on the patriotic songs. Dr. Khushvinder Kumar highlighted some philosophical aspects of Guruji's life through Samvad Vidhi and by citing various Sakhis from His life. Students of G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar has once again proved their mettle in the Panjab University Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival of Educational Colleges (Zone -B) held at L.L.R.M College Education ,Dhudike, Moga from October, 14th -16th , 2019. College won 48 Prizes in all including the Runners Up Trophy. College students won 20 first prizes, 11 second prizes and 16 third prizes in the various categories. College Bhangra, Jhoomar, Instrumental Music, Installation, Collage, Elocution, Vaar, Phulkari, Histrionics, Bhand, Play, Ennu Making, Tokri and Guddian patole Making events bagged first position in the festival. Dr. Rachhpal Singh, Contingent Incharge mentioned that this is for the seventh consecutive time that the College Bhangra team has won first prize in the Youth festival. He further told that College Folk Dance (Jhumar) team also won First prize second time in a row in the Youth festival. The theme of the seminar was "Artistry in Teaching: Exploring the Unexplored". The resource persons for the seminar included Dr. Rajeev I. Jha (Associate Prof., Bombay Teacher's Training College, Mumbai), Dr. Mandeep Kaur Kochar (Associate Prof., Bombay Teacher's Training College) and Ms. Sushma Nair (Free Lancer Educational Consultant). The seminar commenced with the recitation of College Shabad followed by formal welcome of the resource persons by Dr. Sarbjit Kaur Ranu, Principal of the college.In the first session of the seminar on September 3, 2019, Dr. Rajeev I. Jha contemplated on the sub-theme "Creative Expressions: Dance, Drama, Music, Art & Craft" and their relevance in the field of education. Dr. Jha in his deliberation said that teaching is also an art like other art forms as it involves a combination of hand, head and heart like them. A teacher derives aesthetic pleasure from the act of teaching in the same way as an artist from its creation. The second session of the day was presided over by Dr. Mandeep Kaur Kochar. She deliberated on the sub-theme "Expressions and their Names". In her activity based session she cited many examples where art could be linked with the field of education. On day two of the seminar another resource person Ms. Sushma Nair conducted various activity sessions on the theme "Multiple Intelligence". B.Ed students of the G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar, Ludhiana brought laurels to the college in the B.Ed examinations (Semester I) conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh. The examinations were held in the month of December, 2018. Sakshi Sharma secured 1st position in the university by scoring 401 marks while Richa Kalra achieved the 3rd place by obtaining 395 marks out of 450. He said that the students of this college have carved a niche for themselves in sports as well as academically, which is a great achievement. The 2-days long 68th Annual Athletic Meet of the GHG Khalsa Colleges - Degree College, College of Pharmacy and College of Education -was declared open by the Chief Guest S. Bakhtawar Singh Gill, Former President, and his contribution in leading the college to such exceptional heights. He remarked upon the college scholarship facility and the phenomenal library having an inexhaustible and rare collection of books.S. Satinder Pal Singh Sidhwan, as the Guest of Honour and an alumnus, livened up the occasion with his melodious voice while adding that his most revered performance has been on this college's stage. He advised the budding youngsters to aim high while staying rooted in culture. The brothers and alumni, S. Bhagwant Singh Ghuman, Professor, Texas University US, and Principal S. Harbans Singh Ghuman, announced to donate Rs. 25 lakhs through an endowment fund for the welfare of the college, the amount of which would increase to Rs. 1 crore over the years. As a mark of tribute and to commemorate the memory of S. Bakhtawar Singh Gill, Former President, College Governing Council, the GHG Khalsa Colleges, Gurusar Sadhar, organized an Inter-College Gurbani Gayan Competition. The programme began after the Bhog of Akhand Path of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The function was organized and celebrated collectively by-G.H.G. Khalsa Degree College, College of Education and College of Pharmacy. On this occasion, a Free Medical Check-up Camp and a Blood Donation Camp were organized with a team of doctors from Fortis Hospital, Ludhiana, and Blood Bank, Ludhiana, respectively. The Camps were inaugurated by the Chief Guest Giani Harpal Singh from Gurudwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, Sardarni Mohinder Kaur Gill and S. Manjit S. Gill, President. In his highly inspirational speech, the Chief Guest motivated the students to spare some time for the study and discussion of Gurbani and Gurmukhi. He was all praise for the Governing Council for providing all-round educational avenue for the students. S. Jaswant Singh, Principal, Degree College, while throwing light on the occasion told that many teams from different colleges participated in this event with great enthusiasm. The blood was donated voluntarily by 112 students and nearly 345 patients underwent medical check-up with specialists in Orthopaedics, Internal Medicine, Dietician and Eyes from Fortis Hospital, Ludhiana. The Camps attracted a number of local residents as well and the patients were given medicines free of cost. 'Dastarbandi Competition' was another major attraction which saw an impeccable display of colourful turban-tying skills by students. Of the 23 students who participated, Sarabjeet Singh stood first while Narinderpal Singh and Varinder Singh stood second and third, respectively. In the group category of the Gurbani Gayan competition, Khalsa College Civil Lines, Ludhiana achieved the first position while GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar stood second and Guru National College, Doraha stood third. In the individual category, Gyan Kaur of GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, Simarjeet Kaur of Khalsa College, Ludhiana, and Pallvi of Khalsa College, Ludhiana, stood first, second, and third respectively. The panel of Judges who gave judgement on the occasion included S. Gobinder Singh Alampuri, Smt. Baljit Kaur and S. Gursharan Singh. The winners were felicitated and honoured with trophies and cash prizes by Guest of Honour S. The cultural performances presented on the occasion included poem recitation on the topic "Maa Boli", singing of the traditional songs and speeches on the importance of Punjabi language by the students of the college. While addressing the audience the chief guest highlighted the need of preserving our rich culture and heritage. She further said that government and non- government institutions must come forward to promote the rich cultural heritage of Punjab. She also congratulated the Principal and the staff for organizing the event dedicated to Punjabi language. Dr. H.S Brar while speaking on the occasion said that it is imperative to be connected to our moral, cultural and ethical values in this age of globalization and this connection could be achieved by following our mother tongue. G.H.G Khalsa College of Education Gurusar Sadhar organized a national level seminar sponsored by CTE on the Topic "New Policies of NCTE: Future of Teacher Education in India" on February 9, 2019. The seminar commenced with the recitation of college shabad followed by lamp lighting ceremony. Dr. Sarbjit Kaur Ranu, Principal of the college accorded a warm welcome to the resource persons of the day and the other dignitaries present on the occasion. Dr Amit Kauts, Dean Faculty of Education, GNDU, Amritsar delivered the keynote address. In his address, he contemplated on the need of acquiring content mastery on the part of teacher educators along with possessing professional skills. The theme for the Technical session I was "4 years Integrated Course in Teacher Education: Future of B.Ed colleges". Dr. Gaurav Singh, Asst. Prof. IGNOU, Delhi was the resource person for the technical session I. He spoke at length about the "Integrated Teacher Education Programme" and highlighted its benefits along with the related concerns. Dr. Khusvinder Kumar, Principal, M. M. Modi College, Patiala was resource person for the Technical session II. He deliberated on the theme of "NAAC Vs QCI: Logical Basis for this Change". Dr. Khushvinder raised his concern on the role of national regulatory bodies for teacher education and accreditation. The theme for the Technical session III was "Quality in Teacher Education in context of a business Models of Low Investment and High Returns". Dr. Jatinder Grover, Dean Faculty of Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh acted as resource person for technical session III. He expressed his dissatisfaction on the present scenario of Teacher Education in India and advocated for the revised curriculum for Teacher Education Programme as per the need of 21st Century. The technical sessions were followed by a very energetic panel discussion on the main theme of the seminar. Dr. H.S Brar, Registrar, G.H.G Khalsa Colleges delivered the valedictory address. Social Vision Club of G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar sadhar in collaboration with G.H.G Khalsa College and College of Pharmacy organized a function to commemorate 70th Republic Day on 26th, January 2019. The function was organized under the able guidance of Dr. Sarbjit Kaur Ranu, Principal of the college. Col. Randhir Singh Gill was Chief Guest on the occasion and was accompanied by his son Major Tarandeep Singh Gill. The programme started with flag hoisting ceremony by the chief guest followed by a cultural programme. The cultural programme started with the formal welcome of the Chief Guest by the Principal of the college. A student of B.Ed class, Pooja Sharma delivered speech on the importance of celebrating Republic Day .After that a performance on group song "Saare Jahan Se Accha" was given collectively by B.Ed and M.Ed students. Girl students of B.Ed class also presented a beautiful choreography on the occasion. The seven days international workshop on the topic "The Art of Self-Management" organized by G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar concluded on January 21, 2019. The workshop was organized in communication with Institute of Aging and Lifelong Health, University of Victoria, Self-Management programs, B.C, Canada. The workshop which began on January 15th, 2019 witnessed various informative sessions on self-management skills by renowned resource persons from the field of education. Mr. Jay Bains, Provincial Coordinator, South Asian Self-Management Programs, University of Victoria, B.C, Canada deliberated on the concept of "Self-Management Skills". He discussed various strategies to practice self-management skills in our daily life. Dr. Patrick McGowan, Director, South Asian Self-Management Programs, University of Victoria, B.C, Canada shared his views through video conferencing on the topic "The Art of Self-Management". Dr. Amit Kauts, Dean, Faculty of Education, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar conducted session on "Time Management Skills at Work Place" and provided many practical tips to manage time at work place. Dr. Deepa Kauts, Associate Prof., Dept. of Education, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar in her session said that Self-Management is all about living life happily. Prof. Latika Sharma, Chairperson, Dept. of Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh, deliberated on the topic "Self-Regulation Strategies in Classroom". She said that one should always look for holistic mode of learning for complete understanding. Dr. Mandeep Kochar, Associate Prof. Bombay Teacher Training College, University of Mumbai, reflected on the issue of "The Art of Self-Management". She conducted various activities in her session so as to provide a practical outlook on the self-management skills. Prof. G.H.G.H College of Education Sidhwan Khurd held sessions on stress management and gave many practical solutions to avoid stress at work place. On December 27, 2018 a team comprising Dental Surgeons, paramedical staff and students from California and New York set up a free dental checkup and Awareness Camp at Premjit Memorial Community Health Center in Gurusar Sadhar, predominantly a rural agriculturist area of district Ludhiana, Punjab in collaboration with G.H.G. Khalsa Colleges (College of Pharmacy, Degree College & College of Education), Gurusar Sadhar (Ludhiana) - Punjab. The camp was inaugurated by Sardarni Mohinder Kaur Gill mother of Kaka Premjit Gill.The team led by Dr. Jasleen Kaur performed cleanings, tooth extractions, fillings, preventative and emergency service on more than 150 patients. The doctor also donated a Steam Autoclave and Ultrasonic Scalar for hygiene and sterilization purposes to the community center as well."It's a very fulfilling feeling to come back and serve the community that holds my roots," said Dr. Jasleen Kaur. Delhi Lions sealed their victory over the Callaghan Cup in Division 2 men's category by beating Madurai Veerans in a pulsating final held in Nihang Shamsher Singh Stadium at GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar. All Dreams in the Division 3 men's category and Haryana Warriors in Division 2 women's category were, also, declared the champions. In this league cum knock out tourney, the matches were played under divisions 2 and 3, respectively. The winners in each division qualify for competing in the higher division next year, with Division 1 reserved only for elite players who then represent India in International matches. On this occasion, the Chief Guest S. Harinder Singh Khalsa, Member of Parliament, was extended a warm welcome by S. Manjit Singh Gill, President, College Governing Council. Dr. S.S. Deol, Principal, while introducing the Chief Guest provided a glimpse of the phenomenal achievements of the college students in the field of sports. The Chief Guest in his address congratulated the winners and felt honored to have witnessed the game of Rugby for the first time in Punjab. He further added that the extent of sports facilities and the provision of opportunities mark the college as the top-notch in the region. As a testimony of his appreciation and a will to contribute towards promotion of sports, he announced a sports grant of Rs. 31 lakhs to the college. Rakesh Chadha (Retd.), PSVM, AVSM, VSM, the guest speaker was extended a warm welcome and given a worthy introduction by Lt. Gen. I.S. Singha (Retd.), Director of the College. Lt. Gen. R. C. Chadha (Retd.) in his address brought forth the exceptional and unrelenting role of an Indian soldier in nation building. With an unflinching devotion to duty and scrupulous honesty, the Indian Armed Forces are India's ultimate weapon and a guarantor of the idea of India. He encouraged the Gen Y to join the Indian Armed Forces not just for job security but for a wholesome experience of a lifetime. In particular, he discussed about the esteemed institutions like NDA, IMA, OTA etc. and their pivotal role in shaping the future nation builders. The seminar was attended by more than 500 students from the Degree College, College of Pharmacy and College of Education. The queries of the students were handled aptly by Lt. Gen. Chadha. The College Governing Council felicitated Lt. Gen. Chadha with a token of appreciation. The occasion was also graced by Dr. S.S. Punjab prevail over Rajasthan with 26-0 in a one-sided women's match on the fifth day of the All India Rugby Championship 2018 being held at GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar. Ramnik Kaur proves her mettle by scoring 19 of the 26 points in this match. Chief Guest S. Jagtar Singh Jagga, MLA Raikot alongwith Guests of Honour S. Tehal Singh Kailey and S. Harpreet Singh Sekhon were welcomed by Lt. Gen. I.S. Singha, Director, and Dr. S.S. Deol, Principal, on this occasion. In another match under this category, the Chandigarh outplayed the hosts by 27 points.In the men's category, Madurai Veerans won over Young Rebels by 27-14. The Black Archers got better of the host team in a grueling match by a margin of 5 points as the result of an effort by Chandulal at the eleventh hour. Delhi Lions made a mark by defeating Ace Foundation at 46-13. The Tiger Hurricanes were drubbed by Punjab, 13-3.
G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized one day N.S.S. on November 03, 2018.All the students of the college participated in the camp under the able guidance of Programme Offiicers Dr. Jasleen Kaur and Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha. The camp was organized with the objective to develop personality of students through participation in community work as well as to develop the ideal of selfless service. A Cleanliness Drive was organized on the occasion in which the volunteers cleaned the college campus including classrooms, staff room, College Hall, Parking area and various labs of the college. All the students participated in the camp with full enthusiasm.Dr. Sarbjit Kaur Ranu, Principal of the college congratulated the NSS Wing of the college for the successful organization of the camp. She also congratulated the students for participating in the camp wholeheartedly.
In the ongoing Callaghan Cup 2018 at GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, the Punjab team in women's category swept the board and emerged victorious against Black Dots by 32 points. S. Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, AIG Task Force Ludhiana, as the Chief Guest congratulated the team for their dominant performance. Mr. Ratan Singh Brar, ADCP Crime, Ludhiana, and Mr. Dinesh Aggarwal, Business Tycoon, also, graced the occasion as the Guests of Honour. In the men's and women's category, a total of four matches were played, respectively, on the fourth day. The skillful superiority of Rajasthan over Madhya Pradesh in the women's category was evident with a score of 22-0. Likewise, Chandigarh quelled the strong challenge by Haryana Warriors and winded up the match at 7 points to nil. The Rugby Warriors defeated the host team by 29-5. In the men's category, All Dreams team thwarted the Black Archers by 22-0. Due to the incredible effort by Shiva, the Andhra Pradesh team won the match against Gujarat by 5-0. The Rajasthan team was stamped out by Haryana Warriors at 40-0. The host team faced defeat by 5 points in a closely contested match against Chandigarh. The match between Uttrakhand and Madhya Pradesh entered extra time as both the teams shared similar scoreline by the end of the game. But in the end, the Uttrakhand team emerged victorious by a lead of 5 points. The winners of the day were appreciated for their efforts by Lt. Gen. I.S. Singha, (Retd.), Director, Dr. S.S. Jhoomar team of G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar brought laurels to the college by winning First prize in the Panjab University Interzonal Youth and Heritage Festival. The festival was held at Dashmesh Girls College, Badal from October 30- November 02, 2018. S. Manjit Singh Gill, President and the other members of the College Governing Council congratulated the Principal, students as well as faculty members on this marvelous achievement. Dr. Sarbjit Kaur Ranu credited this achievement to proactive and visionary management of the college and applauded the efforts of the faculty and students for performing well in curricular as well as co-curricular arenas.
