The 2-days long 68th Annual Athletic Meet of the GHG Khalsa Colleges - Degree College, College of Pharmacy and College of Education -was declared open by the Chief Guest S. Jagjit Singh Talwandi, Member Executive Committee, SGPC. The Chief Guest was accorded a warm welcome by Prof. Jaswant Singh, Principal, who also presented the Annual Sports Report of the college highlighting the incredible medal haul of the students at International, Inter-University and National Levels. The Chief Guest with S. Manjit Singh Gill, President, College Governing Council, was given honorary salute by the contingents representing the three constituent colleges during the March-Past followed by a flag hoisting ceremony.In his address, S. Jagjit Singh Talwandi, traced his journey through the years and felt honoured as being the Chief Guest at his alma mater. He remembered the pioneer of the college Late S. Bakhtawar Singh Gill, Former President, and his contribution in leading the college to such exceptional heights. He remarked upon the college scholarship facility and the phenomenal library having an inexhaustible and rare collection of books.S. Satinder Pal Singh Sidhwan, as the Guest of Honour and an alumnus, livened up the occasion with his melodious voice while adding that his most revered performance has been on this college's stage. He advised the budding youngsters to aim high while staying rooted in culture. The brothers and alumni, S. Bhagwant Singh Ghuman, Professor, Texas University US, and Principal S. Harbans Singh Ghuman, announced to donate Rs. 25 lakhs through an endowment fund for the welfare of the college, the amount of which would increase to Rs. 1 crore over the years. The distinguished guests were felicitated by the college management committee.Lt. Gen. I.S. Singha (Retd.), Director, presented a vote of thanks and expressed gratitude towards the distinguished guests and alumni for their liberal contributions and constant efforts in maintaining the foundations of the college as an institution of excellence in rural setting. The occasion was also graced by Dr. S. S. Thind, Secretary, Dr. H.S. Brar, Registrar, Principal Dr. S.S.
