future teachers with an enlivening lecture in which he shared his concerns about the status of
women in Indian society. He talked about women being the epitome of wisdom and
intuitiveness, he gave real life examples of heroic deeds of women and how women have always
protected and provided for man’s needs in her different roles of a mother, wife, sister and a
daughter. Dr. Verma boldly criticized the male chauvinistic tendencies and called out the young
men to treat their female counter parts not only as equals, but superior to them. Dr.Verma’s
motivational address was full of narratives from his own experiences of life which he presented
in a manner that the audience was glued to their chairs for the entire discourse.
Dr. Verma advised the youth to make the best of their lives and use their time judiciously.
“Time” he remarked was the most valuable asset of a human being. Every statement made by
him was a quotation to be recorded and shared with the future generation. He strongly opined
that females were born empowered and if the Indian Society and mankind at large has to dwell,
develop and prosper it has to free the women from the shackles of male ego and false social
norms.
Summing up his enriching pearls of exquisite wisdom he advised the young men and women
to follow the ideals laid by Guru Nanak, whom he also idolized in his life. He asked the youth to
invest and save in “Social Banking” which could give unparallel dividends of satisfaction and
contentment. A brief question answer round was also organized at the conclusion of his lecture.
