In the context of upcoming elections, Electrol Literary Club in association with NSS and NCC unit of GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar organized an online webinar on electrol literacy as per the instructions received from DPI colleges. Mr. Varun Goel, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, D.A.V. College, Jagraon commenced the lecture by emphasizing the importance of voting in our democratic country. He further mentioned about Election Commission of India and its functioning in conducting the elections in accordance with the Article 324 and 326. Highlighting the data of voting statistics, he said that the highest voting (67.40%) till date in the country was in 2019.
Lt. Sukhjit Kaur from Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana talked about various political parties of Punjab. She motivated all the students to actively participate in the election process of their state.
Overall both the lectures were quite informative and knowledge giving. The students actively interacted with the speakers. Ms. Aarti Sharma, programme officer of NSS thanked both the speakers for such an inspiring lectures. Other NSS Programme officers, Mrs. Manmeet Kaur, Mr. Amritpal Singh, Mr. Navjot Singh and more than 100 students participated in this online lecture.
