The Department of Music at G.H.G. Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, celebrated Basant Panchami with famous singer Dr. Nivedita Singh, Head of Music Department at Punjabi University, Patiala, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Sonia, HOD, welcomed the Chief Guest while adding that the celebration marks the onset of spring and the full bloom of the beautiful yellow flowers. The celebrations had a devotional start by dedication of hymns to Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of music, knowledge and learning. The melodious voice and highly intellectual speech of Dr. Nivedita enthralled the audience. She presented gurbani and the rich folk music of Punjab, through her songs, in her speech. S. Manjit Singh Gill, President, College Governing Council, appreciated the efforts of the department in keeping the students connected to their roots. In the end, Prof. Jaswant Singh, Principal, gave a vote of thanks.
