GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, celebrated the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji by organizing a seminar in association with the Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, Ludhiana. The famous sikh philosopher, Dr. Inder Jit Singh Gogoani, and Dr. Manjinder Singh, Assistant Professor, GNDU, Amritsar, were the resource persons. Dr. S.S. Deol, Principal, welcomed the guests and brought forth the essentiality of Guru Sahib's philosophy of 'One God' in today's political and religious scenario. He said that instead of getting entangled in the web of redundant beliefs, one must adopt simplicity as the principle of life. Dr. Manjinder Singh, in his address laid emphasis on the universal appeal of the teachings of the founder Guru of Sikhism. He said that Sikhism is different from Punjabiyat. Punjabiyat is a sensibility whereas Sikhism is theologically syncretistic and monotheistic. Dr. Inderjit Singh Gogoani, placed importance on the fact that the centuries old preaching's of the Guru Sahib are not just a historical memory but a continuous reality. He added that it is upon us to discern the presence of 'Nanak' through Gurbani and adopt the learning as a way of life. Dr. Ram Singh Kular, Principal (Retd.), highlighted that Guru Nanak Dev ji has always taken a strong stance against any form of discrimination and this is the need of the hour for our modern society. The Seminar was attended by nearly 100 students and more than a dozen research papers were received. Dr. Baljit Singh, Head, Department of History, summarized the proceedings of the seminar. Lt. Gen. I.S. Singha (Retd.), Director, and Dr. S.S. Deol, Principal, honoured the resource persons and the members from the Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle. In the end, a vote of thanks was given by Dr. Sohan Singh, Stage Secretary. The occasion was also graced by Dr. H.S. Brar, Registrar, S. J.P. Singh, Chairman Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, S. Jaswant Singh Aman, S. Surinder Singh Kohli and Dr. Balwinder Pal Singh.
