One day seminar was conducted by Department of Food Processing & Quality Management of GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, on ‘Challenges in Food Safety and Food Processing Sector’.Eminent speakers were invited for the event. Dr. Poonam Sachdeva, HOD, Department of Food Science & Technology, PAU, Ludhiana, highlighted the status of Food Processing Industry in India and various challenges which our food industry is facing. She laid emphasis on various technologies which an being developed in Punjab Agricultural University and are being commercially implemented by various concerns. Dr. Kanwaljit Singh Sandhu, HOD, Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Punjab Technical University, Bathinda, overviewed the importance of resistant starches in human health. Dr. Birinderjit Singh, Professor, Punjab Technical University, was the last key note speaker of the day. He talked about Quality Management System in Food Industry. He discussed the food hazards and their preventive measures along with the various laws and regulations governing the commercial food products. Dr. S.S. Thind, Secretary, College Governing Council, commended the efforts of the Department and emphasized the importance of such events in providing exposure to students. Lt. Gen. (Retd.) I.S. Singha, Director, and Dr. S.S. Deol, Principal, congratulated Prof. Manmeet Kaur, HOD, and Prof. Sharanjit Kaur for their dedicated efforts towards enriching the knowledge of the students.
