Guru Hargobind Khalsa College Hosts “Rang Tarang 2024,” Showcasing Academic and Cultural Talent
Gurusar Sadhar, Ludhiana – Guru Hargobind Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, organized an impressive array of academic
and cultural competitions under the “Rang Tarang 2024” banner, with participation from over 600 students representing 22 schools.
In his address, Principal Prof. Inderjit Singh highlighted the significance of such events in fostering holistic personality development
among students, emphasizing that those who engage in both academic and extracurricular activities develop skills and confidence not found in purely academic pursuits.
Principal Prof. Inderjit Singh also noted the college’s long-standing commitment to promoting academic and cultural excellence, referencing its history of hosting numerous zonal and university-level youth festivals.
The event included competitions in various categories, such as calligraphy, turban tying, “My Story-Through a Picture,” extempore speaking, poster design, cartooning, mehndi, face painting, individual folk singing, solo and group dance, flower arrangement, working models, paper presentations, rangoli, essay writing, quizzes, salad decoration, and the “Nothing Goes to Waste” contest. Participants conveyed messages of social cohesion, world peace, and fraternity through their work. Events like turban tying, folk singing, and mehndi honored Punjabi heritage, while solo and group dance performances incorporated elements of Western culture, showcasing the diversity of talent. The flower arrangement contest transformed part of the college campus into a vibrant garden, while the “Nothing Goes to Waste” contest promoted sustainable creativity by encouraging thoughtful reuse of everyday materials.
The enthusiasm and skill demonstrated by students underscored their dedication and talent. The College Governing Council President,
S. Manjit Singh Gill, and Secretary, Dr. S.S. Thind, extended congratulations to faculty and students for the successful organization of “Rang Tarang 2024.” Broadway Public School, Manal, Barnala, was awarded the overall trophy with 94 points, while Eastwood International School, Mullanpur,
Ludhiana, took second place with 74 points.Certificates were presented to all participants, and winners were honored with medals.
The event concluded with a spirited performance by the college’s Bhangra team. Dr. Rajinder Singh, Program Coordinator, expressed
gratitude to all contributors, while Dr. Jaspreet Kaur Gulati conducted the stage proceedings with distinction.
